The Black Nuns release Halloween Songs Volume 2
Following on from the release of last year’s Halloween Songs Volume 1, The Black Nuns are back with Halloween Songs Volume 2, releasing just in time for the spooky season. 11 more Halloween themed songs covering the lesser explored themes of misunderstood monsters, adolescent vampires and why Halloween is the greatest time of year.
While Volume 1 leaned into the classic Halloween tropes of vampires, witches, beasts and haunted pianos, Volume 2 looks a little more inward at the everyday events that haunt our lives. The ghosts in this new collection of recordings are sometimes hidden in the details.
Halloween Songs Volume 2 is availabe for free from the Black Nuns Bandcamp page here: black-nuns.bandcamp.com/album/halloween-songs-vol-2
Volume 1 is available here: black-nuns.bandcamp.com/album/halloween-songs-vol-1-2
Released October 20, 2024
Leave a Comment Go to Post...Surprise Album Drop from Slasher Dave – HOME HAUNTER
Slasher Dave’s music, if we’re speaking generally, is mainly a love letter to 80’s synthwave, from Carpenter to Frizzi to Goblin, and, in our opinion, should be on everybody’s Halloween playlist (or all year listening if you dig synthwave). It’s like listening to the score of a really great horror movie… just without the horror movie. We at the Cult are huge fans!
Today he dropped a surprise album, “Home Haunter” – here’s what the man himself has to say: “SURPRISE, CREEPS!!! New FULL LENGTH album out now on all streaming services! Deadicated to Home Haunts and the DIY Halloween spirit of building > buying from big evil corporations. That is my house of corpse in the background too! I’m sick of seeing every house having the same corporate bullshit. What’s the point of decorating if Tom across the street has your same setup? I do not get what’s exciting or cool about that. ENJOY!”
We couldn’t agree more, Dave.

“Music for Haunts” is the name under which composter Chris Thomas releases select works that he’s created for theme parks and haunted attractions. Each year he releases a collection of moody, often cinematic music tracks created for his clients, and they’re JUST SO GOOD. While the vibe is different from track to track, each collection makes for atmosphere-elevating listening during the Spooky Season, and Purgatio does not disappoint:
“Enter the haunting soundscape of Purgatio, a collection that draws you into the darkest realm of nightmares. This album is a carefully curated compilation of music composed for theme parks and haunted attractions across the US, Canada, and the UK. Crafted from the most spine-chilling tracks of the 2022 and 2023 haunt seasons, these selections were chosen as our absolute favorites for their power to ignite the deepest dread of the soul. With every note, Purgatio transports you to a realm where the boundary between the living and the dead blurs, and every melody whispers of something lurking just beyond the darkness.”
