David Slade’s “Dark Harvest”, based on the Norm Partridge Novel, Now Streaming!
Many years ago I picked up a first edition copy of Norman Partridge’s soon-to-be-award-winning novel “Dark Harvest” (Cemetery Dance Publications, 2006) because (a) it looked like a fun/horrific story set on Halloween and (b) this particular edition used one of the first fonts I ever designed (Cenobyte). I read and absolutely loved the tragic tale of the October Boy…
…so imagine my surprise last night when I stumbled upon director David Slade’s (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy) new film based on the novel, now streaming on VOD!
While it’s been over 10 years since I read the novel, the movie felt pretty faithful to the source (I get why they changed “October Boy” to “Sawtooth Jack” – scarier!). The movie moves swiftly to tell its tale and is beautifully shot, the creature design is impressively horrific and some of the kill scenes were just jaw-dropping. I really enjoyed the film and can’t wait to add a hard copy to my collection, although no release date has been set that I could find.
Check it out wherever you watch your VOD and enjoy this wicked Halloween treat!
