Slasher Dave says:
“Out now on Bandcamp and all streaming services! Age-Old Tradition is a different album than I’m used to doing. It’s almost a double-album, splattered with 18 gore-soaked tracks.
Don’t let the name and smiling pumpkin on the cover fool you, this album is pure horror worship, in its truest and most evil form. There are some Halloween jammers mixed in, but for the most part it’s harsh, raw, and very aggressive for its “horror synth” genre. I wanted it nasty sounding.
A lot of art and script is almost all Ai now, so I’m going to get extra human this year and tell you a fucking story…
When I was a child I collected Halloween cassettes, I still do… But one of them really affected my life in a way I cannot explain. It stuck with me all these years later. I don’t think this new album would even exist if it wasn’t for this tape. That tape was Gemstone Entertainments Fright Night. It has really crappy and childish art on the cover. But the music and sounds on it are the complete opposite. Within the first 3 SECONDS of the tape, you immediately get what they were going for. Terror. Right when I hit play for the first time I immediately felt like I was gonna die. I had a demented and dreadful smile on my face from ear to ear. It has to be influenced heavily by Carpenter soundtracks, parts actually sound a lot like Halloween 2’s score. Maybe that’s why I loved it so much? I put this tape on whenever my friends and I made a garage haunt. In my opinion, audio wise, this is the coolest and most magical Halloween tape to ever exist. I still go back and take influence from it, and this album has A LOT of it. It’s kind of my tribute to it, and of corpse John Carpenter, Jay Chattaway, Fabio Frizzi and Goblin soundtracks.
This is Halloween music for horror and splatter fans. It’s music for all the freaks that make elaborate displays of fright in their front yards every year. Stab yourself in the eye with a pumpkin carving knife music. Peel the skin off your bones and eat it music. Cut yourself weeks in advance to harvest scabs and pass em out to trick or treaters music.
Enjoy. Ya sick f#!ks. 🎃”
