Dana Gould: Comedian, Writer, Halloween Lover
Dana Gould has been one of my favorite writer/comedians for quite a while – I caught a show he did in San Francisco in 1992 and was blown away, been a fan ever since. I knew that he was a writer (most people seem to know him from The Simpsons), but I only found out in the last couple of years that he is also a huge fan/proponent of Halloween.
I’m posting about him now for two reasons.
First, he has a fantastically funny podcast called “The Dana Gould Hour”, and he’s just released his annual Halloween episode “Bride of Halloweenery”, which is not to be missed – you can listen to it at http://www.danagould.com/bride-of-halloweenery/, and you can subscribe to the podcast on the same page (be sure to dig through the older episodes to find previous years’ Halloween episodes).
Second, and I didn’t know about this until I was watching the movie, Dana has a part in the excellent (and just released) Tales of Halloween which, given his stated opinions on Halloween and his tendency to self-reference as a curmudgeon, could not have been a more perfect casting choice.
So, Mr. Gould, the Cult of the Great Pumpkin thanks you for all you do for the High Holiday we love. In a world of insincere pumpkin patches, yours is serene.
