Haunted House, Haunted House Music Co (1985)
Your moldering host Sam is old enough to remember picking this up as a cassette tape in a drug store on a whim in 1986. It was dirt cheap, but for something released in the 80’s, it has a decidedly old-school vibe that made it an immediate and enduring October favorite of mine, from the weirdly dreamy Music from the Fourth Dimension playing in the background to the surprisingly creepy moments it manages to evoke, almost in spite of itself. Even the cover art has a wonderful, home-grown, throwback quality that was already disappearing at the time. So enjoy, Pumpkinauts! I really love this one.
