New* website http://www.scoop.it is a bit like Tumblr, except it’s geared towards curating news, photos, video, etc. about a particular topic into one central theme. Cult of the Great Pumpkin tech guru Chad Savage has helped us set up http://www.scoop.it/t/halloween, which now feeds this site. What this means is that it’s now easier than ever for me to post cool Halloween- and spooky-related things I find on the web here for you Pumpkinauts (just check out all the fun stuff immediately prior to this post). Thanks, Scoop.it!
*So new, in fact, that it’s still in private beta. But if you’re interested, you can request an invite.
“Just wait ’til next year, Charlie Brown. You’ll see! Next year at this same time, I’ll find the pumpkin patch that is real sincere and I’ll sit in that pumpkin patch until the Great Pumpkin appears. He’ll rise out of that pumpkin patch and he’ll fly through the air with his bag of toys. The Great Pumpkin will appear and I’ll be waiting for him! I’ll be there! I’ll be sitting there in that pumpkin patch and I’ll see the Great Pumpkin. Just wait and see, Charlie Brown. I’ll see the Great Pumpkin. I’ll SEE the Great Pumpkin! Just you wait, Charlie Brown. The Great Pumpkin will appear and I’ll be waiting for him…”
We at The Cult of the Great Pumpkin are, of course, very VERY busy tonight, but we couldn’t let the night end without sincerely wishing you all a Happy Halloween!
The very first post to this website was a parody of The Lord’s Prayer, called The Gourd’s Prayer. I recorded it for Rotting Flesh Radio – listen to it and, if you like it (use it for your Halloween mixes!), download it for free!
The Gourd's PrayerSo remember that invocation I posted on October first? I recorded it for Rotting Flesh Radio – listen to it and, if you like it (use it for your Halloween mixes!), download it for free!

Jesus Diaz reports at Gizmodo.com:
“Prepare for the Super Harvest Moon! For the first time in two decades, the Sun will sink as the full Moon rises exactly opposite to it on the day the summer ends, creating in a strange 360-degree twilight show.
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, today is the autumnal equinox and a Super Harvest Moon will cross the sky after almost 20 years since the last time it happened. When the Sun starts to set on the Western horizon, a full moon will rise opposite to it on the East, reflecting the light of our home star.
Being close to the horizon, the orange Moon will be gigantic thanks to a psychological effect called the Moon illusion. The sky will be illuminated by the Sun and the Moon at the same time, creating a weird 360-degree effect that is rarely seen.
You don’t need to do anything special to enjoy the show, just get ready for the sunset. Make sure to have a clear view to both East and West…”
